Taylor is one of the craziest sleepers. She falls asleep with her head just below her pillow and her blankets pulled up around her so that you can only see her head. She usually ends up sleeping folded in half. Just imagine someone sitting crossed legged and then bending over to lay their head on their legs. I have no idea how she does that without her legs falling asleep, but she does. She also crosses her legs in all sorts of funny ways. She is probably the most interesting sleeper besides Declan.
Payden is pretty funny too. She can never keep her blankets on for long. Many times she sleeps normally, but occasionally we'll find her asleep on the floor by her bed or hanging off her bed in some awkward manner. It makes me worried what she'll do when she's no longer on a mattress on the floor.
Shelby is my most normal sleeper. She rarely, if ever, is in an abnormal sleeping position. She is also my calmest kid . . . I wonder if there is a connection somehow.
Declan, on the other hand, is always in some weird position. I'm always curious to see how I'll find him sleeping.
Recently he's discovered how to take apart the pack n play where he sleeps, so instead of going to sleep like a good boy, he takes apart his pack n play and then eventually falls asleep or cries and cries and cries until Mom comes in. This adds for an even greater variety of sleeping positions when I come to check on him. On this particular day, he had folded up the bottom mattress and was sleeping on the thin canvas floor (that is not meant to support any weight). We find him like this a lot - with his bed partly taken apart and him conked out.
He's also decided that he'd rather use his pillow as a blanket, so we often find it covering him.
My least favorite is when it's covering his head. (This picture reminds me of The Wizard of Oz when Dorothy's house lands on the Wicked Witch of the East or whatever her name was.)
We also find him with his knees tucked under his chest and bum sticking up in the air. He also does what Taylor does, and we'll find him cross legged and sleeping folded in half.
Although I am slightly obsessive about having to check on them each and every time they're sleeping, it does has it rewards as we often get a good laugh about how they are sleeping.

The obsessive sleep checking must be genetic--I do it too--each and every night! Maddie is the crazy sleeper in our home. I also can't imagine how some of those positions can be comfortable yet they return to them time and again so maybe they know something we don't! :) N
Hands down, you guys have the kids who sleep in the oddest positions!! I have never in my life seen or heard of a kid sleeping like Taylor!! How does she even walk in the morning after sleeping like that??
Whenever you write stories about Declan being "naughty" it just makes me laugh. Boys are so different than girls. Avery can be naughty too, but boys just do it differently!! I can't believe he takes his bed apart like that. That IS naughty! Little stinker.
And guess what, I can't sleep without checking on the kids either. If I get in bed without doing it, I HAVE to get back out and check them. I always make sure they are covered and breathing. Weird, but I think I will do that for many, many, many more years to come! I love it though, they are so sweet when they are sleeping!
