Graduation Day: The Ceremony

Starting on Thursday family started coming to town. First Mary Lou, Sheryl, and Joshua, followed by Jeremy and Cynthia. Next was Barbara, then Andrea and Ronan, and then Angie. Finally on the morning of graduation my family arrived - Nana, Papa, David, Scott, Angela, Lori, Avery, and Addie.

In the days before graduation, we sat and talked, ate at Carrabas, took Payden to the ER for an abscess on her bum, and just had fun chatting with each other. On the morning of graduation, the Orme family got ready at their hotel while my family enjoyed some time playing Rock Band 2.

Finally it was time to get ready. As luck would have it, it started raining on our drive over to the ceremony. We got there just as the ceremony began and fortunately as the rain subsided for a bit.

Out he came smiling proudly . . .

There were a few speakers, including a lady from the Alumni Association, the senior class president, and the keynote speaker, the new president of the ADA.

Here's the whole Orme/Dynes families looking on.

After the key note speaker, it was time for the degrees to be handed out. Since Tom had been in Group 4, he was in the fourth group of students to stand up and get his diploma.

The faculty who oversaw each group, called the group leaders, were given the honor of hooding the students. Tom's group leaders were Dr. Partida and Dr. Santos.

Now Dr. Partida and Dr. Santos are extremely short compared to Tom, so he decided to help them out, which brought laughs to everyone.

With the hooding completed, he headed to the president of the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio to receive his diploma.

With the ceremony complete, the procession began to exit the auditorium.

Hallelujah! It's done!!

Congratulations, Tom . . . or rather Dr. Orme. We are so proud of you!!!!!!
