Summer Part I: David's Graduation in Houston

We headed out on Thursday June 5 (the day after Shelby finished school) for Houston. As always, we love going to Nana and Papa's house. The girls get so excited to see Nana, Papa, and David as well as play with their toys. They have so much fun there that we always get a huge break as the girls are busy from morning to night.

On Friday, Tom met with a dental broker in my dad's ward. They had a good meeting, and Tom got a contact up in Washington as well as an idea of what we need to be looking for and doing to find him a job for next year. That night we had a nice family dinner with my parents, my brother David, my sister Angela and her husband Scott, and my sister Lori and her daughter Avery.

The next morning we headed off to see David (aka the Boy) graduate. He's the 8th and final kid in my family to graduate from high school. My parents will finally be empty nesters after almost 33 years of raising kids. Congratulations David (and congratulations Mom and Dad)!!

The Graduate

Payden, Taylor, Avery, Lori, Angela, and Scott

After the ceremoy, we headed over to eat at a nearby Mexican restaurant. From there we headed back to home so that Tom could attend the wedding of a really good dental school friend (Congratulations Kyla and Winston). Poor Taylor was SOOOOO upset that we weren't going back to Nana and Papa's house.

We just barely got 2 more sets of headphones for our DVD player, so this is the first time Payden's gotten to wear them. I LOVE the double chin. She also keeps her head in almost the same position the entire time. It's so cute.

All I have to say is . . . AMEN to DVD players. I can't imagine a long drive without them, especially with young kids.

When we got home, we started getting everything together for the next part of our trip. Then Tom headed off to the wedding while I stayed at home to get the girls to bed and to get us packed and ready for the next day.

I HEAR you on the DVD thing. I don't know HOW parents survived without them before! =) My parents will be empty nesters in a year when my little bro--the 9th child graduates... sounds like they're on the same schedule as your folks! =) So are you guys looks to move to WA after dental school?
