Summer Part II: The Longest Drive Ever

Well Sunday morning started 3 LONG days of driving.

Day 1: 810 miles to Albuquerque, NM; 12+ hours
Day 2: 588 miles to Pleasant Grove, UT; 11+ hours
Day 3: 885 miles to Lynnwood, WA; 14+ hours

In all, the girls really did a good job. Our days consisted of watching DVDs, coloring, reading, playing, eating, and gas/potty breaks. This first part of the trip was the hardest for Payden as she has never been in the car for this long. She'd often start crying and tell us, "All done. Buckle." Getting her back in the car after potty breaks usually ended up with a lot of crying and a bit of a fight. By day 3, there was a lot less crying and a lot less fighting. Unfortunately, the girls didn't/wouldn't sleep well in the car. Payden, if she fell asleep, would only take a 30 to 45 minute nap. Taylor and Shelby just wouldn't sleep in the car. All of this resulted in some grumpy girls at times, but overall they really handled things well, and I was proud of what good troopers they were.

(These are mostly scenery pictures, but I just wanted to document this trip as it is not the first or last time we will drive it.)

Sounds like they were troopers in the car. Long drives can be so rough with kids--so kudos to you all for surviving it!
