Declan's Thoughts on Baby Food

At Declan's last doctor's appointment, the doctor mentioned that it was time to start introducing food to him. We started off, as recommended, with rice cereal.

As soon as I got the spoon next to his mouth, he started shuddering and grimacing.

Then when I got it in his mouth, there were tons of faces and shudders as he ate it.

Then came the gagging. I started laughing at this point.

He was smiling here, but that was probably because I wasn't feeding him at that moment.

The girls had so much fun watching him eat. They were busting up at all the faces he was making.

I'd forgotten how messy it is to feed a baby (and this is with his face being cleaned a couple of times during feeding).

He didn't really seem to like it. Hopefully that will change. Taylor hated baby food, but gagged so easily that it was really hard introducing her to food. Hopefully, he'll start liking things a little better. If not, it certainly is funny watching him eat.

Well, a few days later the girls were eating and it was time for him to eat, so I sat him in his Bumbo on the table to eat with them. That helped a lot. There was still a little gagging here and there, but he seemed to like it a bit better.

Then we introduced him to veggies. He LOVED LOVED LOVED them.

Green beans, squash, peas, sweet potatoes . . . he has loved them all. Since adding those, he is enjoying the cereals a lot better too. No more gagging.

He loves eating so much now that when you feed him, he'll grab your hand with the spoon and lunge toward the spoon so that he can get another bite.

Yes!!! I'm so excited he loves baby food!! It's so much fun feeding him.
