Some Declan Moments

* We finally brought out his play saucer (or whatever you call them). It's sooooo old and not as fancy and cool as the new ones, but it's still a nice place for him to play and reach his toys. Since he's almost 20 pounds, his swing was just not working. Also, Payden busted his 2 bouncers, so this has been a nice place for him to sit and chill other than the same-old-same-old floor or swing. Of course, each and every one of his sisters has had their turn sitting in it. Heck, we constantly find one of them sitting in it, but they're good about hopping in when he's asleep or somewhere else. It cracks me up though as to why it is so fun to sit in it. Who knows?!

* He has been practicing on his sitting and does pretty well. He at least doesn't try to eat his toes as much any more, but is really good about sitting himself up if he does go for them.

Now we just need to work on falling sideways and backwards. He still hasn't gotten it into his head that if he leans a little, then he'll fall over.

Fortunately, the Boppy does a nice job of catching his falls.

I love this part . . . when they learn how to sit. They are so much happier because they can sit up and play and look around. It's gotta be tons better than staring up at the ceiling all the time or leaning back in a bouncer or swing.

* When we lay him down, this is generally what he does. He very rarely lays flat. He is constantly sticking his legs up and of course eventually eating his toes.

* Okay I finally caught one of his random attacks. I've mentioned before that he will just grab and try to munch on you if you get too close. Well Payden and Taylor came and sat down to eat some goldfish. The next thing we knew, he'd grabbed Payden's shirt and tried to munch on her.

Of course the girls thought it was HILARIOUS and wanted him to keep doing it.

* I decided for my Valentine's blog header that I wanted a picture of the girls kissing Declan. We tried for a group kiss, but by the time we got Payden to understand what we were doing, Taylor was laughing too much. Plus, Shelby was giving the goofiest kisses. We tried and tried, but this was the best we got.

I then got individual shots of each girl giving him a kiss. The girls were so happy to do it.

You can tell he wasn't quite sure if he liked it.

By the time it was Taylor's turn, he had had enough. Poor guy.

* He rolled himself over one night. When I looked over at him, he was laying down on the pillow and just staring at Tom. It was so cute. Of course by the time we got the camera, he lifted his head up.

* I was feeding Declan while the girls were snacking and he was trying left and right to grab ahold of something. Since he's so good at grabbing his spoon and making a mess, I gave him the goldfish box to distract him. He was so excited and immediately grabbed it and started attacking it and munching it. The girls thought it was sooooooo funny (they think a lot of what he does is funny) that they decided they just had to get a picture.

Of course, as soon as he heard the camera and saw the orange light it projects on its target, he immediately turned his head. Shelby tried and tried and tried, but he kept turning his head to look at her each time.

It was a good moment with lots of giggles and laughter from the girls. We are so grateful for Declan . . . he has brought a lot of smiles and laughter and happiness to our lives.

Declan is so cute! I love the picture of him by the pillow. I love it when little kids are calm and snuggle. I love the girls kissing him too. Someday he won't mind so much if girls kiss him. :)

This post cracked me up!! First off, Declan is growing so fast... I'm sure you haven't heard that enough. ;) He is just SO cute!! I was laughing at him grabbing and munching on the girls clothes... too funny! And then the girls tyring to give him kisses, those pictures are so sweet and fun but also cracked me up as I read your commentary about the whole experience.

We saved our baby entertainment unit thinga-ma-bob (ha) and used for all 3 kids as well, so I know what you mean about being outdated... but hey the baby doesn't know that, they're just happy to have something to play with like you said. Our kids did the SAME thing, they just had to sit in it and test it out for themselves even though they were way too big for it. They finally got over it though... I think it was just the excitement of it for the first little while.

You guys have such cute kids and a fun family... love being in touch!
