I have never canned before. I remember my mom canning here and there, but I don't ever remember being a part of it. I had a blast doing it. After our kids went to bed, we set out cutting up the peaches and pears and canning them. The peaches were soooooo tasty and their skins just peeled right off, so they were easy to get ready. Tom and I finished our peaches first, so I went over to help finish the pears. After a long night's work, here was the final product . . .
We have all loved the peaches. They are soooooooo yummy and each can disappears the day it is opened. I can't wait to do this again next year! I definitely have caught the canning bug. There is something highly rewarding and highly satisfying about picking and canning your own food.

What's with the colored jars? I haven't ever seen that before.
I guess my niece and nephew like putting food coloring in the jars. It's weird eating colored pears, especially blackish brown ones, but the kids think it's fun. Yeah, I had never seen that before either.
