Braces

I forgot to write about this because I didn't really have a good picture of me since getting my braces removed (for some reason I'm not in many pictures . . . probably because I'm always the one taking them). Anyways, on Sept. 5, 2007 I finally got my braces off. I had them on for almost 18 months (minus 4 days). The things you don't realize are so nice until you have braces to make you appreciate them more . . . eating without getting food stuck in your cheeks and braces, flossing, brushing, playing around with your children (I've had plenty of headbutts into the mouth - OUCH!), and those are just a few. It is SOOOOO nice to have them off. They are not as perfect as Dr. Hulme would have liked, but that's my fault. I have a tooth that's a bit weird. If you look at the tooth, it looks like I have a crack down the middle of it, but it's really that the tooth tried to split into to 2 teeth during development (like Siamese twins). It's called a geminated tooth (apparently it's something quite cool as many dental people have been extremely interested in it). Anyways, it's much larger than normal, and Dr. Hulme could only shave it so much (it was hurting way too much), so it makes a bit of a problem because of its size. Despite my unusual, problem-making tooth, I am very excited with my beautiful straight teeth.

Before: uneven teeth (especially the one tooth that's WAY higher than the rest on the right side of my mouth), twisted teeth (on the bottom . . . you can't see them), gap (not as bad as it used to be, but still there). Oh and that's a picture of Shelby. That's how far back I had to look for a good picture of my teeth before.

During.

After. Thanks Dr. Hulme and Tom (for making it my Christmas gift 2 years ago and getting everything arranged)!!

Ok, so I wasn't loosing my mind, you still had them on when we moved. I didn't think they looked bad when we first met, but now that I see the difference, they do look nicer. What a beautiful smile!! I bet you just want to smile even more now:)

OH the joys of braces! This is coming from a girl who had braces twice :) Luckily I got them off a month before my wedding. They had to digitally take them off for our engagement pics...It is definately nicer without them!

Congrats on getting the braces removed! You have a beautiful smile! And I know what you mean about not being in any pictures. I was looking through the photo album from last year and was only in like 2 pictures, so this year I think I've taken too many of me in them. oh well.

What a nice gift! And so worth the wait... I wore my mine for 4 years. Your end results look so great!
Ok... do find yourself licking your teeth... that was one thing I found myself doing when I got them off... my teeth just felt so smooth.

Wow! Fabulous smile! You look great. It's so cool getting braces off. Your teeth feel so slippery and smooth. Hallelujah for being able to have them and then be done, eh?!
