Baby Declan

Here's a few shots of Declan over the past few days. I forgot how tender your heart gets when you have a baby. Then you remember when your other kids were little, too, and well it's hard to keep the tears from flowing. It really is a wonderful time, despite the aches and pain of recovering and adjusting to a new routine. It definitely humbles you and makes you feel so blessed to be able to be a parent and to bring these little ones into the world.

It is even more wonderful when your other kids are excited, too. The girls have really been awesome about adjusting to having Declan in the house. I was especially worried about Payden because she is such a mama's girl. She's seen me hold babies before and has not been nice about it at all. She spends a good amount of time snuggling with me throughout the day, so I really, really worried how she'd adjust. Well, she has loved him and will just snuggle up to me with him on my lap without any problems. She loves helping out with him and is very protective of him and his stuff. She wouldn't even let Shelby put her feet on his carseat because it was the baby's and not Shelby's. They all have been great helpers and love to look at him and give him hugs and kisses. Not a cry goes by without them letting me know and trying to help him out. He is definitely going to be well-loved for the rest of his life.
