Payden - My BIG Helper

Payden LOVES to help. Loves, loves, loves it!!!! If I'm in the kitchen cooking, it won't be too long before I hear the scrape of a chair crossing the tiles. Well, a few months ago I was having Shelby and Taylor hand me hangers so that I could hang up their clothes. Payden decided she was going to help, grabbed a shirt and a hanger, and hung up the shirt. All of sudden she was shoving this hung shirt in my face. I couldn't believe it. I didn't realize a 2 year old could hang up clothes. I'd just always done it and had never thought to give the girls a try. Well, after learning this, the girls generally hang up all the clothes . . . even mine and Tom's. I just tell them I need my Hanger Girls, and they come help. Now even though Payden CAN hang up clothes correctly, she doesn't always get it to work the right way, so occasionally I get this . . .

It's pretty cute. Sometimes she'll come to me to help her because it's not working right. Lots of times it's because she's trying to hang up the shirt at the bottom of the shirt. Anyways, I'm just grateful that Payden loves to help because now I don't have to hang up clothes any more. Love it!

Another way Payden loves to help is with Declan. She is such a good helper. If he needs a diaper, she brings me 10. If I need anything for him, I just have to ask her and she will get it for me. She's also really good about helping him when he's crying. One time Tom and I were unloading the car and Declan was in the house, still in his carseat, crying. When we got done unloading the car, we came in and there was Payden holding his pacifier in his mouth.

Today I was finishing up laundry, and he was getting tired and hungry. I asked Shelby and Taylor to put his pacifier in his mouth and to help him keep it in there. Of course, who was the one to finally help him?

Payden. It is just toooooo cute. She will sit there forever just holding it in until I can come get him. She'll talk to him, tell him it's okay, console him and everything. Sometimes she'll let go, but she'll come back in a short time to put her hand on his pacifier to make sure it's not falling out of his mouth. So sweet!! Unfortunately for Declan sometimes the help doesn't quite work out the way he needs it to. Sometimes she pushes the pacifier so hard that it hurts him. Sometimes instead of his pacifier looking like this . . .

it looks like this . . .

Haha. Poor guy. He was trying to suck on it, but it just wasn't working the right way. Anyways, I just love how helpful she is. It is such a big help to me. Thanks Payden!

What a cute girl! And if you can actually let your kids fold/hang clothes you are better than I am. That is one area I am a little OCD! Josh will fold laundry for me and it takes every bit of energy to just "let it be". I try so hard but I end of refolding when he's not looking:)

Oh, she is so cute! I love it when they surprise you with all their helpfulness! It's so wonderful! It helps you realize how much we need to be more like children, doesn't it? :)

Your kids are so cute and sweet!
