Already a few minutes into playing and you can already see dirt on his face from eating sand.
Here was our shot of the reservoir. The nice things was that we had this nice sandy area that was great for the kids to play and then we had a small walk down to the water. It was perfect. Unfortunately, there was supposed to be rain, another reason Tom and I wanted to get there as soon as possible, but fortunately it took awhile before the clouds and winds rolled in.
So while we waited for everyone else to arrive, the kids played in the sand. Taylor, who is my hands-on explorer, couldn't resist digging right in and getting nice and dirty.
Again Declan just HAD to eat the dirt, and therefore got really upset with me when I dug the rocks and sand out of his mouth. You'd think it would be too gritty and yucky tasting to want to keep eating it, but apparently not.
Payden loved making mounds (I think they were her sand castles) and putting sticks and flags in them. She also had to immediately take her dress off when we got there so that she could play in her swimming suit or swim soup as she calls them.
Fortunately since we were outside in the sand and water all day Taylor was free to crawl around and get as dirty as she liked. She normally gets in trouble for crawling around on all fours in public (because she gets FILTHY and under people's feet), but today she was able to and she had a blast. She's so good and fast at crawling like this.
Payden is a bit pigeon-toed like her Papa, and this picture really shows it. Plus I love this chubby little thighs of hers.
Shelby too joined in the fun, but once the jet skis and life jackets arrived, she stayed in the water. She LOVES the water and had a blast swimming in it.
I really do love watching them play together and use their imaginations.
Finally Angie and the boys arrived.
They headed down to the beach with the girls for a little dip in the water.
After a long wait, Cyn, Jeremy, and everyone else . . . and the jet skis arrived. Of course with all of the fun, we didn't get tons of pictures, but here are Shelby and Taylor getting out on the lake first with Jeremy. They had TONS of fun, especially Taylor. Shelby loved it, but didn't want to go to fast . . . our cautious one. Taylor loved it all and didn't want to stop . . . our more adventurous one.
Of course the bad thing with 2 jet skis and 15+ people . . . the waiting. It's so hard to wait because it's so much fun being out on the water, but we did a pretty good job of taking turns.
Unfortunately, the life jackets are not really made for guys Tommy's size . . . it was hilarious seeing him in them. He again decided to sport a fauxhawk and his white sunglasses in honor of our nephews.
After a bit of jet skiing, we pulled out the tube and took the kids tubing. Taylor was the first to go tubing, but I couldn't find the camera. She got so low in the tube it looked like no one was in there. It was funny! I actually got a bit worried that she'd been knocked out because you really couldn't see her at all, but she finally popped her head up as they reached the beach.
Declan didn't get to go jet skiing, but he was happy to play in the sand, be loved by everyone, and of course eat everything he could get his hands on.
The water was a bit cold, but that didn't stop Taylor and Shelby from being in it almost all day long. They LOVED swimming in it and could hardly be convinced to get out.
Finally after lots of fun in the water, yummy food, a relaxing afternoon, and good company, the clouds started rolling in and the wind started blowing. Everyone else decided to stay, but we decided to head home with the kids.
When Payden got up to head to the car, we noticed her swimsuit had shifted a bit.
We had a great day and were grateful to Cyn and Jeremy for renting the jet skis. We can't wait to do it again.

That looks like it was such a fun day. I love the diaper shifting picture! I am sure she will love it in a few years too. :)
