Beautiful Bluebonnets

I remember the first few years we were here. In April, we would see tons and tons of fields of bluebonnets everywhere we went. At first I didn't realize it was a Texan thing to get pictures in the bluebonnets, but finally last year I decided I wanted to get some pictures. Well that was when I was pregnant with Declan and suffering from BAD allergies and the kids were sick and there weren't any bluebonnets . . . anywhere.

This year I vowed that we would get pictures in the bluebonnets (again because it's our last year here), but like last year we haven't been able to find a good field of bluebonnets. We hoped on our way to pick strawberries that we might see some, but the only good ones we found were on a thin strip of grass in the middle of the interstate. I knew that there was a Lady Bird Johnson wild flower park somewhere and I knew she lived around Fredericksburg, so we put her name in our GPS and found that in Fredericksburg was Lady Bird Johnson Park. Now it turns out that this wasn't the wild flower park that I was thinking of, but fortunately they did have a small patch of bluebonnets so we could finally take our bluebonnet pictures.

We sat Declan down, and he was perfect. He looked at them; he played with them. He just sat there and chilled. We got some good pictures of Declan and then turned to take some of Payden. I turned and looked at Declan to check on him and saw the perfect shot. It took a little bit to convince Tom to hand me the camera to get another shot of Declan (because we had plenty already), but it was so worth it because I just LOVE this picture . . .

We then turned back to Payden. Well she just didn't want to cooperate. This is the best we got of her, and it kind of looks like she's taking a . . . well I'm sure you can figure out what it looks like she's doing. After a few shots, she refused to sit in the bluebonnets and wondered off.

Shelby then sat down, but she looked like she was pouting the whole time, so we moved on to Taylor. Now the progression of Taylor's photos are HILARIOUS!! She put on a smile, then would get angry and scowl at us, then she'd put on a fake smile for a few seconds, and then get mad at us again. Tom took a whole bunch in rapid succession, and it tells a funny pictures. Out of all of her shots, I was happy to find one with a real smile and not a fake smile or an angry scowl.

Since I wasn't happy with Shelby's first set of photos, I asked Tom to take some more. Although it's hard to see her face, I was much happier with these.

I then wanted to get a group shot. I should have realized that all of Taylor and Payden's goodness was used up this morning at the strawberry patch because by this point they refused to come sit down in the bluebonnets, so here is our shot of all the kids in the bluebonnets . . .

Here are what the other two were doing . . .

Although the patch was small and the pictures weren't all ideal, I'm glad we were good little Texans and got pictures of the kids in the bluebonnets this year.

It really is a beautiful flower and makes for cute pictures (or at least cute pictures if the person is willing).

I love the blue bonnet pictures. We really should have taken advantage of that when we were there.

You kiddos are so cute!
