Easter: A Visit from the Easter Bunny

Because of the abnormal day and the late night the day before, Saturday morning dawned brighter and earlier than usual. You can tell on Shelby's face that she was the only one who had to be awakened to go see what the Easter bunny had brought. They rushed downstairs and waited for the adults to come down. They were so excited.

Here is what awaited them in Nana and Papa's family room . . .

The girls' stashes . . .

Declan's and Tom's stashes . . . (The Easter bunny used my old Easter basket to give Tom exactly what he loves most about Easter - white chocolate Reese's peanut butter cups. HE was such a thoughtful Easter bunny.)

Finally the okay was given and the girls rushed off to see what they'd gotten.

The Easter bunny was very thoughtful and gave the girls a few things that will be useful on our long drive to Washington in a few months. The girls each got coloring books and colors . . .

After Christmas, I wasn't surprised to see what Payden pulled out of her basket first . . .

They also got eggs filled with mini Little Ponies.

Declan of course just sat back and relaxed. I can only imagine how much more excitement and craziness there will be when he finally gets what this stuff is all about. As you can see, Tom thoroughly enjoyed the snuggles he got. (Declan is not a snuggler and almost always sits up when being held, so if he EVER leans on you, it's considered a snuggle and you take advantage and enjoy the moment.)

After a bit, Payden finally realized there was more than candy in her basket and decided to see what else she'd been given.

Although the coloring books will be perfect for our road trip, the girls couldn't stand to wait that long. Shelby started reading away.

Payden and Taylor quickly grabbed their crayons and started to color away.

After a bit Declan decided he wanted to be down on the floor, so Tom sat him down. Well he turned towards Tom's leg and noticed Tom's "birthmark." He kept staring and staring at it, so I had to get a picture of him making his discovery.

Once he realized I was taking pictures of him, the goofball emerged.

I'm not sure what was going on here, but this face cracks me up.

Taylor decided to give Declan the stuffed animal he had received. Instead of just handing it to him, she playful attacked him with it. Can't you just see how much he loves his sister and how much he enjoys her? She sits behind him in the car, and I removed the headrest from his seat so that he can see her for this exact reason . . . she's really good at making him laugh and keeping him happy.

During April, Declan has started to move around and go after things. I don't think he's really close to crawling, but he LUNGES after things, so I decided to see if I could entice him with the colored noodles. Of course he couldn't resist . . .

He eventually got himself within reach of them, grabbed the pan, and then was very disappointed when Mom snatched it out of his hands.

We had a wonderful morning, despite the very early wake-up call. The girls are excited to have new coloring books and foam stickers to play with.
