Amen

Amen to mother's instinct. Something was not right. My normally happy baby has actually been fussy. Fussy is not a word that I would have ever used to describe him . . . ever. I mean he cries when he's tired or hungry or overtired or sometimes when he's poopy or his tummy hurts, but honestly there's always a reason. There's never a cry that is for apparently no reason . . . until these last few days. I called yesterday to make an appointment. He'd actually slept better last night, so I figured we'd go in and find nothing was wrong. He still wasn't my normal baby this morning, but I just wasn't sure what the doctor would find. I was afraid it would be nothing, but I needed something because he was not my normal happy, easygoing baby.

Amen to answers. When we got there, the doctor checked him out and everything was fine until we got to his ears . . . he has his first ear infection. This explains the fussiness, the completely sad crying that seemed to come from nowhere, the difficulty sleeping even when in my arms, the 3 hours of rocking and holding I'd have to do to get him to sleep each night, the numerous wakings every time he slept, the constant desire to feed, the constant need to be held, the wiggling and squirming he'd do while eating . . . it explains everything.

Amen to medicine. What would I do without it? 3 of my kiddos are on meds right now, and Declan's about to add an antibiotic to the Tylenol I've been giving him. I really don't know how people survived with little medication. When the kids are sick, it's what helps US get through the days and nights with a little less misery.

Amen to Dr. Kubena!!! That doctor and her staff have saved me from going insane numerous times . . . and I mean NUMEROUS. I'm actually curious how many times we've been there for a sick appointment. She has seen us through - MANY colds, viruses, RSV (many times), UTI, bronchiolitis, asthma, ear infections, respiratory infections, eye problems, stomach viruses, and much more. It's been rough especially since Taylor was born (she catches EVERY respiratory illness that comes her way). Yea to Dr. Kubena and all she does!!
Amen that we'll finally be able to get our happy baby back (although you'd never guess by these pictures that he isn't feeling well . . . he certainly is happy to see his mama, sickness or no sickness)!!!

Your poor baby! And no, he doesn't look unhappy in these pictures...just super handsome happy Declan! Hope he gets better soon. Ear infections are no fun especially while nursing because they get all that pressure on their poor little ears:(

Cuter header and papers by the way!
