Nana and Papa to the Rescue

Because Tom was going to be out of town the first 2 weeks of November, my parents decided to come help out over the weekend. What a blessing. It was so nice to have 2 other adults there. The kids enjoyed Nana and Papa so much, so my load was definitely lightened. It was also nice because it broke up the time that I was all alone taking care of the kids, so the 2 weeks didn't seem as bad (they were still hard, just not as bad as I had imagined).

On Saturday we played a bit and then ended up going shopping for a new carseat for Payden. She had Shelby's booster from when Shelby was little, so it was well used and well past time for a new one. Afterwards we headed to Salsalitos for dinner.

My parents stayed the night and went to church with us the next morning. Since it was the Primary program in Sacrament, it was perfect because they were able to see the girls say their parts. I had been asked if I could sit next to Taylor during the program (she has some medical issues that cause sleep problems, which result in behaviorial issues); I laughed when I saw that I was actually on the seating chart. I hadn't realized it was a definitive thing . . . and yes I was the only parent up there sitting with their child. It worked out nicely because I was able to sit with her and help her be reverent through the program. The girls did a great job. Shelby got a little shy, which is unusual for her. I guess she's reverting back to being shy again. I was especially shocked when the program started and I realized it was Shelby who got to say the very first part. I felt bad because we hadn't been able to practice as much as usual with Tom being out of town; fortunately, she's a good reader and it went pretty smoothly. Taylor did a great job as well, especially considering she's a Sunbeam and it was her first Primary program. Sunbeams usually get really shy and some even refuse to speak, but Taylor did great. She forgot that she'd memorized her part though and instead just waited to be told what to say. I laughed at that. The best part about being up there was watching the Sunbeams. They were hilarious. It was Taylor and 3 boys, so you can imagine how funny it must have been. They were very wiggly during the songs. At one point when returning to their seats, they decided to dive through the back of a chair to get where they were going instead of just walk around it. They were quite entertaining.

After church, we got dinner going so that we could eat an early dinner and my parents could head back to Houston. It was hard seeing them go and realizing I was back to being alone for a week, but it was such a blessing to have them come. It really helped me to make it through the 2 weeks without going completely insane.

Thanks for coming Mom and Dad!!!!
