Haunted Gingerbread House

The other day at Walmart I found this Wilton Gingerbread Haunted House Kit (my kind of gingerbread house . . . already put together . . . just add icing and decorate). Today we finally were able to decorate it; the girls were SOOOOOOOOOOO excited. I got everything out and made one of the icings, then handed that icing over to Tom to start decorating while I made the other icing. Finally I headed over and started helping.

I decided to grab the camera and take a few pictures. I then turned to see what Payden was up to, and she was doing her normal Payden goofyness . . .

She is constantly putting things on her head and then walking around the house . . . waiting for us to laugh at her. Of course she got a few laughs with this too.

One laugh is not enough though, so she started to put it on again to get us to laugh some more.

She is SUCH a goofball, and Taylor laughs a lot at her, so Payden is always trying to make Taylor laugh . . . it makes for some fun times with the two of them.

We continued decorating. Of course you can't decorate with candy without trying a few (look at Shelby's mouth).

I turned to look at Payden, and she was trying to put the cloth on her foot. She does this a lot, too. I don't know if it goes back to the shoe fetish. Maybe it's really a foot fetish.

Then she balled it up and was done with it and ready to come terrorize the haunted house.

As you can see in our house, the more the better. The girls put candy just about everywhere.

Finally they were done. It was a lot of fun, and I really like doing these little projects during the holidays. They make this time so much fun.

So here's the finished project.

Tom added a cat at the bottom of the doorway, but it slid down.

The girls are so proud of this, and they did a really good job. We'll have to see how long it lasts though because I keep finding Taylor stealing candy from it. I guess I can't blame her.

We just made one too. They're great! Miles' mouth and fingers are permanantly black because he keeps sneaking candy off. It is really potent food coloring in that icing. It's a devil to get off. The girls are so cute and it looks like they had a great time. So fun.

If you keep your eyes open, this kit will go on sale pretty soon (at least at Target). They drop down 40-50%, so it's pretty cheap. Then you can have one for next year for only $4-5! We've always gotten ours at Target, so I'm not sure about when Walmart puts theirs on sale.

Costco already has the Wilton Christmas ones out and there's TONS of candy (of course..it's Costco!) and it's only $9!! I love these gingerbread kits, and like you said, they're already put together...perfect(and takes a lot less time for prep work)!!

OH, and for all you "lone star card holders", this gingerbread house kit gets picked up on the card! Can't beat that. So pretty much...it's free!

Ok, I had to look at these pictures again today because Payden's hair cracks me up!!! That last picture of all of them together is so funny. Payden, with that hair and in the background, just looks all mischievous and like she's about to do something. She is too funny. I bet you guys have a lot of fun with her.

(You guys need to leave more comments on our blog too girl:) No more apologizes) :)

The house turned out so cute! I'm glad your girls had so much fun making it. We made a gingerbread house with our nephews at Christmas last year and we had a lot of fun. I love decorating gingerbread houses and I think Quin and I will have to do one this Halloween!

What a fun activity! I bet Tom was as excited or more excited than the girls to decorate. I know I would be!)
