Cascade Springs

On our drive through American Fork Canyon the other day, we were given a map. I decided to look up some of the hikes on the map to see if there would be one good for us. I found this one called Cascade Springs that looked perfect, so a few days later with some new hiking shoes courtesy of Wal-mart, we set off to go hike to Cascade Springs.

We parked on the upper parking lot and headed in. It was a beautiful day. It was a little warm, but nothing we couldn't handle. Taylor was in a bit of a mood that day and ended up trailing behind a lot.

As we walked to the springs, we walked through this forest that must have been burned previously. The empty branches reaching up were very cool looking, but it was wonderful see life returning to the area.

After a short and easy walk, we made it to the top of the springs.

There were a few bridges here and there that we had to cross as the trail took us to both sides of the stream.

There were lots of waterfalls throughout.

We got to some large pools of water where we spotted trout swimming around.

The girls really enjoyed trying to spot the trout as they were pretty well camouflaged.

There were lots of markers along the trail identifying the trees and whatnot. We really enjoyed the gnarly knot on this tree.

Since we had come from the upper parking lot and walked down, we finished at the lower parking lot. So that we wouldn't all have to walk back, Tom and Taylor walked back up to the parking lot and drove down to the lower parking lot to come get us.

It was a perfect little hike for the kids. I'm thankful we're able to have these little adventures and that we can enjoy the beautiful outdoors without it killing us!
