We had to enter through a building with a few memorabilia. The kids enjoyed sitting in this bobsled.
As we were trying to find out how to exit into the park, we found this poster and decided to take some pictures.
The crazy thing is Payden and Tom found it first, and she was actually the first to stick her head in, but I was unable to get a picture. When we made her stick her head in the second time, she was NOT happy with us. We're such mean parents. :)
Once we exited, we were right by the pools where the ski aerialists practice and were having a competition today.
It was amazing to watch. I definitely could never do that, but we thoroughly enjoyed their amazing acrobatics.
After a bit, we decided to find where the jump house and face painting was. While everyone else got in line for the face painting . . . which was perfect timing as the line more than tripled after we got in it . . . I took the girls over to the jump house. They were excited to get a turn, but only Shelby and Taylor had enough guts to go inside. Shelby was still her normal cautious self and kept to the side, but Taylor did a good job bouncing and falling all over the place.
Meanwhile Miss I-Don't-Like-It sat outside telling me she was too scared.
But definitely content to just watch her sisters.
While we jumped, the boys were sitting in line having a blast with Declan and his silly antics.
The best thing about waiting in line was that the ski jumpers were right there, so we got to watch as we waited. I am definitely a chicken and would NEVER be able to do something like this, but am in awe at what they do.
Finally it was time for the face painting. There were 2 ladies doing the painting. Taylor, who was so excited she was going to pee her pants, go to sit down first. I was afraid she'd be too wiggly, but she did just fine.
Payden was excited until the lady started to paint her face. I ended up having to hold her while the lady painted and she cried and cried and cried.
One by one the kids all took their turns. Tom wanted to have Declan get his face done, but I knew that would be one huge mess all over him and me. In the end, we ended up with
A Tiger
(and she played her part the rest of the day . . . growling and roaring and walking on all fours)
A sad rainbow. She ended up liking in the end, just not the process.
A unicorn.
A fairy.
The Joker . . . okay well maybe a mime with tassels coming out of his mouth.
It was a fun day. We had expected it to be packed, but there's definitely a difference between San Antonio crowds and Utah crowds. It was nice to not be packed in with people everywhere.
After the park, we got something to eat and headed to the outlets. We did some shopping and then headed home for a treat and present opening since it was my birthday. It was a nice, relaxing fun day.
