Fireworks!

After the parade in Provo, we sat back and had a relaxing Fourth of July, which also included a BBQ . . . yummy!

For fireworks, we decided to head over to Thanksgiving Point to see the fireworks there. When it started to get dark, we headed out. I decided to snap a shot of the Mt. Timpanogas Temple as we drove by; I love living so close to it.

Now to be honest, my kids haven't seen fireworks in a long time. I have one child in particular who does not handle sleep loss very well, and so I have just decided in the past that it was better to let her get her sleep than to watch fireworks. Since we are living with Tom's sister and their family would be going, I knew my kids would have a blast and decided to risk the aftereffects. This ended up bing Payden and Declan's first time.

We headed to the tip of the point of the mountain and parked in a parking lot on the mountain side that overlooked Thanksgiving Point. While we waited for it to get dark, we gave the kids snappers to throw. They had a blast. Payden couldn't throw them and get them to pop, so I had her stomp on them instead. She loved it.

We also played with sparklers and got glow-in-the-dark necklaces to play with.

As it got darker, we decided to settle into the back of Jeremy's truck to watch the fireworks.

Finally after much waiting, the fireworks began.

Unfortunately, the timing was EXTREMELY slow, and they repeated many fireworks, so by the end we were ready for the show to be over with. It was a fun night though playing around and being together as a family.

With the fireworks over with, we got in the car and headed home. There was A LOT of traffic, and it was almost 11:00 . . .

but the late night quickly caught up with everyone and they slept the rest of the way home.

Haha . . . Tom asked me to take that picture. He's a goofball.

We made it home with all 4 kiddos sound asleep and they all transferred into bed without a problem. I'm just glad for the opportunity we have to celebrate the wonderful freedoms that we are blessed to have and for the wonderful country that we live in.
